Arts Media has been recently formed by a team of very experienced classical music, arts production, digital media, internet technology, and entrepreneurial professionals. Arts Media is a turnkey digital media strategy, production and distribution services company. Arts Media works with leading performance arts organizations as their contractual, outsourced arm to leverage emerging capabilities and models in the digital media environment, including initiatives in:
  • Media production initiatives to create a rich archive
  • Media distribution initiatives that leverages that archive across Internet, radio, TV, IPTV, podcast, SACD, download, HD, streaming, and emerging formats and channels
  • e-Marketing initiatives that build brand and community, drive audiences to ticket purchases, and establish strategic relationships with funders and sponsors
The 5 principals of Arts Media, Peter Rothstein, Luis Barros, David McSweeney, John Newton, and Blanton Alspaugh are combining their extensive experience to form Arts Media Partners and offer this unique capability. The 5 principals’ backgrounds are:
Soundmirror, Inc.
FOUNDED in 1972, Soundmirror is a fully digital recording, post-production company specializing in acoustic music and sound for picture. John Newton and Blanton Alspaugh from Soundmirror are principals of Arts Media Partners. Soundmirror’s staff has done extensive field recording around the world and has produced, edited, and mastered projects for over forty classical music labels. It’s orchestral, solo, and chamber recordings have received numerous Grammy nominations (and awards) as well as special mention in Gramophone and Stereophile. Soundmirror has been providing recording production services to the Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO) for many years, including the recent upgrade in digital multi-track concert recordings. John began working for the BSO in 1969 and has continued his relationship in various capacities. John also managed the Recording Department for Philips Classics (now part of Universal Music) for 2 years. Blanton has considerable experience in classical radio broadcasting both as a program director and a content creator.

Allegro Strategy, Inc.

Peter Rothstein, president of Allegro Strategy, works as an advisor, consultant, and part-time executive with seed and early-stage digital media and energy ventures in Boston/ Cambridge. Allegro Strategy focuses on helping ventures to reach strategic, operational, business development, and value-creation milestones. Peter’s work builds on a career that includes extensive entrepreneurial, strategy, business development, acquisitions, venture capital and general management experience. Peter was previously an executive at Lotus/IBM where he founded and headed the corporation’s eLearning business unit. Peter has been involved with the Boston Symphony Orchestra as a member of the Tanglewood Festival Chorus since 1975.

Tenor Technologies, LLC
David McSweeney created Tenor Technologies to help arts organizations and independent artists use recent digital media developments to improve their business effectiveness. He has 20 years of experience in building and deploying cutting edge technology solutions. Known as a strong technologist and well-rounded business professional, he also brings a unique combination of visionary and operational skills to the table. Before forming Tenor Technologies, David held numerous executive positions in Massachusetts high technology companies. David is a professional musician and singer with Boston Baroque, Handel & Haydn Society, and other organizations.

LB Ventures, LLC
Luis Barros
is President of LB Ventures, LLC, which provides business development, consulting, and advisory services to accelerate the growth, adoption, and value of companies and brands.  He is the Founder of Luso Mundo Institute, which specializes in World & Lusophone music and performing arts.  The projects have been presented in North America at leading Performing Arts Centers (PACs), Commercial Venues , and Festivals and has had extensive media coverage. This includes collaborations with Harmonia Mundi, Lusafrica, and Times Square Records, and artists that are now with agents ICM and CAMI, and  Universal Records.  His past assignments include consulting with LaFace Records and with Grammy-Award winning producer Dallas Austin.

Over the past 18 years, Luis has honed the venture development process with experience from the entrepreneurial, investment, academic, regulatory, and capital markets perspectives. This includes management, marketing and business development roles in holding/investment company, capital markets compliance & regulation, corporate venture capital, high tech start-ups, company spinouts, and joint ventures. Luis has an MBA from MIT-Sloan and a BBA from UMASS-Amherst's Isenberg School of Management.
